Thanks David for this wonderful trip report. I can't wait to visit Marrakech with its snake charmers. Have just got back from a trip to Essaouira, which is absolutely lovely, I recommend it for your next trip (2 hours taxi or 2.5 bus from Marrakech but there is talk of direct flights from the UK soon). With Atlantic breakers rolling in filled with rainbows and gracious inhabitants (like you, I found this word springing to mind to describe the Moroccans) who don't pressure you to buy, it is a heavenly place. The port and working shipyard feels like going back in history to the time of the Phoenicians as barefoot fishermen drag their turquoise boats to the sea or mend their nets. I won't go on...

Avoid transavia.com who cancelled my flight from Essaouira to Paris and put me on one the next day from Agadir - 60 euros by taxi and no compensation. But at least it meant an extra day in beautiful Essaouira.

Your report makes your stay in Morocco sound great fun and has whetted my appetite for a trip in 2009, whichis just in the preliminary stages of planning.
Many thanks,
Sue
