We're off to a good start in this thread:Dining in Israel Friday and Saturday but I thought I'd check in to see if there were any additional recommendations.
We're staying at the Marriot (Ruppin Bridge at Herzl Blvd.). I'm totally unfamiliar with the area. Ideally, we'd love a places in walking distance but are fine with taking a cab too. We like smaller, family places, love to try different ethnic foods (yemeni, turkish, greek, moroccan, arabic - anything else I'm not thinking of?), and would really love to eat on the cheap if possible ($75 or so) for a family of four but would go up to a $100 (am I totally off base with this?). Anyway, let me have it.
Oh the taxi thing reminds me, will restaurants call cabs for us for the return trip, like in Italy?
The bad news: My SIL could not give me any recs, as they live up north and aren't as familiar with the names of places in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv.
The good news: My sister is dating an Israeli, and he recommends the following places: (he included the Hebrew also in case you needed to show the name and address to a cab driver). Good Luck!
Recommended restaurants in Jerusalem:

BTW, thank you for your kind and generous offer to deliver a care package to my SIL/BIL. Won't be necessary, but so nice of you to offer. Appreciate that.
