Excellent write up on NZ wines. I am a big fan of these wines. I've toured Hawke's Bay wineries and hope to do a tour someday of Marborough wineries.

Marta,

When You do, make sure to check out Thornbury, owned by Bruce & Sharon McCutcheon, two Kiwis we befriended years ago in Port Douglas, Australia, and their partners. Their sauvignon blanc in particular is amazing. I don't know if it's available in Washington, but it's distributed somewhat spottily here in the U.S. (E.g. I can buy it here, but not at our place in AZ).

Thanks for the recommendation. I have had it and it is very good. I tend to stick with the ones that are around $10-$15 so I drink a lot of Geisen, Villa Marie, St. Clair and Lawson's Dry Hills. Occasionally Brancott. My current favorite is Kim Crawford which will occasionally go on sale here in WA for $15.00.

Marta,

Guess I missed the notification that you had replied. Sorry!

I think the Kim Crawford is brilliant in its price range. Bought a few this weekend when it was on sale. It all disappeared when more guests came over for Sunday swimming/picnic/dinner.

I tell my NZ friends that I will convert one wine drinker at a time. Glad to hear you enjoyed it.
