does anyone have any suggestions for somewhere to stay in the Yasawa Islands in Fiji? My husband and I are going in October and want somewhere reasonably priced with good swimming/snorkelling nearby - we are not really into resorts, or nightlife and don't mind basic or quiet. We aim to be there for about 8-10 days.
thanks very much,
Hilary

The Yasawas have the best beaches in Fiji so a great choice. Octopus resort is popular - we stayed there a couple of years ago. It is considered upmarket backpacker but attracts a wide range of ages and nationalities. It is on Waya Island in the southern Yasawas. It has a great beach - fairly basic bures, some on the beachfront. It gets booked up way ahead. Oarsman's Bay Lodge is in the Northern Yasawas and meant to be similar and have an even better beach. A number of people we met at Octopus had also been to Oarsmans and rated it higher.
