Could someone pls help me identify the attached photos? I was in S Korea almost 20 years ago, and don't remember some details. This is a statue of King Sejong, but I don't know where the statue is.

This is probably taken in Deoksu Palace in Seuol.

buddy:

I think I made an error in that the statue is not King Sejong, but Kwangaegum. I went to a Deoksu website, and the exact pic was on it.

Really? I am almost certain that's Sejong. What do the first two letters on the status read?

Sejong should be spelled as 세 종

Also, the wikipedia says that the statue is that of Sejong in Deoksu: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deoksugung

Hello, Jim069,

It is the statue of King Sejong; it's in the Toksu (Deoksu) Palace garden. It's a work (completed in 1968)of sculptor Kim, Kyongsung.

Yes, half. My mother is Korean, but my father is 3rd generation Japanese Californian. Wink

I lived there (Korea) for about 5 years when I was very young and haven't been back since, but I've still retained some of the language comprehension and the ability to read it. Since I never attended a Korean school, however, I don't know the proper mechanics of Korean diction.

Anyway, your knowledge of the country and its language is impressive! Kudos!
