Hi

My wife and I have started thinking about next years vacation and we are thinking about going to Thailand with some friends. I guess it will be Bangkok and an island in the south. But it would also be great to visit Ankor Wat in Cambodia. Has anybody here been to Ankor Wat? Is it quite a mission to reach it? As you can see from my posting my knowledge when it comes to Ankor Wat and its location is very limited at the moment so I hope that someone can enlighten me

Hi Gard, did I see this same post on either Fodors or Trip Advisor? If so, no offense to this fabulous website but I've tried here for advise and it doesn't seem to attract any SEA travelers. I am using the Fodors and Trip Advisor Cambodia links to help me plan my first trip to the Angkor Wat/Siem Reap area. There are a ton of opinions posted in both locations.
Its very easy to get to all the temples as they start just a few kms outside of Siem Reap which is easily reached via Bangkok Airways. The temple areas are huge I've read and you need transportation between most of the sites. YOu buy a 1, 3, or 6 day pass I believe and from what I've read, it depends on how into history and archeology nad religion you are. Also, the Lonely Planet Guide to Cambodia was a huge help to me as the books on this area are few and far between. Good luck!
