Hi, I haven't been in a couple of years, so I can't give up to date info..we hired a cab for a couple of hours and toured the island, some great architecture in several houses, small gardens... and then we walked around town... of all the places I have travelled in the world. I felt the most uncomfortable as a woman here. It was the hair on the back of your neck feeling the way the men stared, crowded you ... However, I don't know if this was an isolated experience or not. A possible resource for you would be the CruiseCritic.com message boards. I did a quick search for Trinidad postings Here's a link for you...just keep scrolling through the posts http://boards.cruisecritic.com/search.php?searchid=10886551Hope this helps! Karen

We have spent LOTS of time in Trinidad, tho' on a sailboat out in the marina area of Chagaraumus. The Asa Wrght Nature Center is there with great bird watching. We aren't birders so just went there for lunch one day (not many sightings as it was during a drought) but there is a lodge. Friends have overnighted and enjoyed it, as they got evening and early morning sightings. A guy named Jesse runs a very helpful company named Members Only -- a misnomer because one does not have to be a member to use his services. www.membersonlymaxitaxi.com. He can arrange tours everywhere. Ask him if there are any pan (steel drum) concerts or practices you can go to. They are phenominal! Ask him anything and I'm sure you will find all the best T&T has to offer. He would probably recognise us if he saw us but probably doesn't know our names -- George & Brenda. He might know our boat's name -- Avatar -- but we haven't been there for 3 years. Tell him we sold Avatar last year and miss the cruising life.
