does anyone know about the monsoon season in chenai? i'm wondering if it's in july, and how bad it gets. my daughter is close to committing to a one month stay there, but we've heard some scary things about the monsoon.

Chennai is on the east coast of India, therefore, its monsoon season falls between October and December, so your daughter won't be affected.

If she wants to see the rest of India, she should plan accordingly. I was in India in July 2005. Although the monsoon was *bad* in Mumbai (think New Orleans), Delhi was unaffected.
