I really enjoyed reading the first few days. Well written, informative and entertaining.

I wish I was a diligent about writing down my travel experiences. I have many pages of notes from my recent trip, but big gaps where I was too busy/lazy to write anything.

I had seriously thought of taking my laptop with me to Australia (and updating a travelog regularly) , but what with UK security arrangements in place at time of departure, I was uncertain of whether I would have needed to check it in (and face the possibility of never seeing it again).
I look forward to reading the rest.

I have to admit to watching some televised Aussie rules football while in Sydney - hugely entertaining, although I still don't have a clue about the rules.

It's great to hear from Marta and that she and hubby are enjoying themselves in our great state. Our weather has been 'spring' perfect and looks to continue the same way.

Football fever is still with us as the team has flown back to Perth from Melbourne to a big party, street parades etc. Aussie Rules football is certainly different to any other code but similar to Gaelic football which is played in Ireland. In fact a match is played every year either in Ireland or Australia with Ireland winning the last two years (from memory.)

Thanks all. The trip is going real fast. We're at mid-point. We really like Australia. Everyone is very friendly and it is very easy to get around. The distances are pretty big but at least we are used to them from living in the west.

The trip hasn't been very slow but we needed to move around to see the diverse flora. We are starting to go a bit slower now that we are here in the South. We have a great apartment in Albany and it has been perfect. We'll be moving on to Margaret River soon. We'll have a studio in the country which has a spa. We're looking forward to a little luxury.

We saw the turnout for the Eagles in Perth on the news. They are still talking about it on the news.

I'm really enjoying Marta's reports, given that she is so close to where we live now. It is true that so few Americans visit Western Australia, because of its remoteness.

We have friends from Texas (3 couples) that visit every couple of years and love it.

Yes that's real love if you want to go into a swamp. Happy travels, Marta and George.

Sigh... it is almost time to return. I've updated a bit about our time here in Sydney. It has been extremely hot. Yesterday was 38C which is almost 100F. It think today was even hotter. We did not expect this at all. It is only Spring!

Poor Marta and George. You have struck our Eastern states in the midst of a heatwave. Traditionally is has always been WA as the state for heatwaves, but we've missed out the past few years.

Summer has certainly started early and of course with it comes the dreaded bushfires, which also happen on a large scale in USA. Victoria is currently battling 35 separate fires and it our smallest state.

But I'm really glad to hear that you are both over your heat exhaustion (that's what it sounds like you both had) and are having a good time.

Happy travels home.

Hi Marta:

I've been enjoying your blog a lot. Australia hasn't really been on my travel radar, but maybe now it is.

Thanks for sharing and glad you've been enjoying your trip!

Hi Marta,

You should have come up to Coffs Harbour and Dorrigo, where we went for the weekend. On the Dorrigo plateau we needed pullovers, and a refreshing sea breeze cooled us down from the 80s in Coffs.

Hi Marta, I am so glad you enjoyed our South-West. My husband and I spent a couple of days a few weeks ago in Denmark (between Albany and Walpole) and revisted places we haven't seen for many years and had our first walk along the tree-top walk, it is lovely.

The Margaret River region is also fabulous and our family spent a week there with a vistior from England this time last year.

All Western Australians hope that you can spread the word to take the extra effort to come to the west coast, we love it and we love visitors.
