We are wait-listed for either La Residence Phao Vao or Maison Souvannaphoum. Where else would you recommend? Our travel agent put us in a new place, Bel Air Villas, which sounds beautiful but it is a 20 minute drive outside town. We really want to experience this special village not the countryside which could be anywhere!

LizS has visited Laos. Here's her blog posts on Luang Prabang. She talks about the hotel she stayed at but doesn't give the name. From the picture, it is Apsara. It might be a little funkier than what our looking for but it is in town.
