What do you think about bringing a laptop to Morocco? Has anyone done this? How safe do you think it is?


I was going to leave ours with our good friends here in Spain, but that means I would have no laptop for about 12 days. No biggie except we will be blogging, all the nice places we are staying at have wifi or internet and we will just be using taxis and such for transportation.

We are going to be staying over night with a Berber family in the desert and my child will be doing a little concert for some of the kids at a school there. I would really like to get this stuff up on the blog asap, plus I use my laptop to upload photos and could be doing these things in the eveing in the riads. ( We tend to like to stay in during the evenings).

Morocco seems like an extraordinary photo op!

So there are good reasons to have the laptop with us. On the other hand, it is our lifes blood and I surely would not want to loose this "baby".

( We would have it held in a safe place in a home while we are in the desert).We will be traveling light with just a backpack each.

How risky do you think this is? ( We are staying at higher end places).

I am still deciding, but thought I would post what I found out. I just talked to Cyril the French owner of Sawday and i-escape recommended Riad de L'Orangerie who lives in UK.

He has traveled all over Morocco with his laptop and never had any problem. He thinks it is as safe to have a laptop in Morocco as it is in UK, France, US, Spain etc.

Most of the places we are staying have wifi,so I am tempted.Still thinking on it and open to any experiences and opinions.
