will be in Paris for a week in early June staying in the 7th by the Seine. Would like to find some easy bistros that serve the type of french food I love...Steak Tartar, sweetbreads, oyster & mussels, foi gras etc. Any suggestions? merci, susan
Okay - I know it's a chain but others here recommended it to me before our trip last June and we had lunch there twice, we enjoyed it so much the first time:
Yes they have plastic menues but those were some of the best mussels I've ever had - no scratch that - the best. I need to write my review (should have that and my trip report done shortly) but we really enjoyed it and they have locations all over the city.
You might want to read the blog, Siena to Florence to Paris. Steve and Susie made Paris home for several months while attending culinary school. One of the recent posts lists their favorite restaurants and they are thoughtfully arranged by arrondissement.

i put the site i do reviews in France for restos in your area for seafood. You can play with it and even thus the reviews are in French the stars will give an idea of how good they can be. Then you have the chains like Leon de Bruxelles, who is also pretty good too for the mussels/chips dish.
I tasted the best steak tartare I've ever had at Chez Camille in the Marais. My husband said the escargots were also terrific, but he "forgot" to give me one. This is a lovely bistro, and is open on Sunday.
Constance, would the Café Constant (in the 7th) be a place that you think Susan might like? Susan, be sure to read Constance's trip report - it will whet your appetite for sure.

Well, as you know, I loved the Cafe Constant, and it certainly has a lot of food that does a play on classic bistro food. But it's a little more inventive than just the old favorites. Sort of classic bistro with a new flair. But just wonderful. (Man, all this talk about the Constant restaurants is making me want to go back to Paris!)
