Hello,

I am researching a trip to France next year. We'd like to spend 4 weeks there-2 weeks in Antibes, Nice, etc. Then travel by motorhome to Paris, slowly...and spend the rest of the time in Paris.
We want to do it by motorhome because we are planning a longer (1-2 years) trip throughout Europe and we figured a short trip might be a good first step to see if we are really cut out for life in a motorhome.
Most of the sites I've come across offer very expensive motorhome rentals. Then I found motorhomeFrance.com and they quoted me 490 euros for the entire month, picking up in Nice and dropping off in Paris. It just seems too cheap and I'm wondering if there's a reason for that. BTW, we are going at the end of September which is considered low season, I think. So that may be the reason for the low price.
If anyone has rented from them before, I'd love to hear a review.

Thank you very much,
Alessandra

Alessandra,

Check out WT's posts. They are traveling the world, based in Spain at present, and doing extensive motorhome traveling. Her blog and posts will send you in the right direction.WT's website

Thanks for the reply. I actually have been following their blog since last year. They are wonderful and I love their blog. But they bought an RV in Amsterdam for an extended trip.
Right now I'm just looking to rent one from a reputable company.

Alessandra,
I just looked up that sight and put in for a quite for 4 weeks High Season which was June 26 to July 26 and it came up almost 4000 euro, so I think even if you put in low season dates 490 euro has to be wrong...it sure sounded good though... Frown OH! and that was for the smalles one they had...

We rented ours in Amsterdam --- we found it was much cheaper there.

Yes, I heard of other people renting in Amsterdam. We wanted to rent in France bc we want to go to the cote d'azur. We thought we would save ourselves some time by going directly there, instead of having to travel from Amsterdam to the south of Franch. And we are looking for a one-way rental.

Hi, 4...

While exploring this site, (I'd like to rent one, too!), I found this 'Please note' on the Terms and Conditions page:

quote:
MotorhomeFRANCE is an agency and not the principal hiring company for the products displayed on this website. MotorhomeFRANCE will assist its clients as far as is possible with any dispute which may arise with principals, but is not liable for any loss, damage, injury, death or perceived disadvantage which may be incurred arising from any action or omission by such principals.

I'm not sure what it means--so, if anyone knows who they're referring to as 'principals', I'd like to know.

Motorhome (camping cars) are very popular in France and very expensive, especially one way rental.

Shoulder season is a great time to travel, the weather is great.

As with most RV rentals, one way is very expensive or impossible to find. Best to pick a small area (say Burgundy) and do a circle tour from there. Your expense will be less and you joys immense.

Bon voyage
