P.S. I knew where your money and bus card were the minute you wrote of them missing!
That's too cool! I was so totally convinced that I'd had my pocket picked, and I was soooo pi$$ed off because I'd been soooo careful and I worked really hard to not leave myself open for anything like that...and yet, my Carte Agile and my $$$ were gone! Or, so I thought...

For my trip to Italy this fall, I've already started writing the pre-trip pages, the accommodation selection process and so on. I want to write each page at the end of each day, then post it for everyone to read...kinda like taking everyone along with me. I have to buy a laptop, though, and that might stop my plan dead in its tracks!
Thank you for appreciating my style of writing a report. I was very unsure about posting it, because it isn't all about the little details...it is about the entire experience as it happens to me, so you get the whole enchilada with tears, fears, highs and lows. My best friend told me reading it was like listening to me talk!

People I know-- especially former co-workers-- were suprised how honest I was about many things.
Kathy, that was something that I heard from people as well...they were a little shocked that I would 'let it all hang out' so to speak. I also think that travel is full of these moments, and I'd bet that most people have them, but aren't comfortable sharing them. I have friends who travel extensively, and when they read my report, they were almost critical of my 'crying in your soup' story, as they called it! When I asked them about their travels, they went to great lengths to assure me that THEY have never had situations like mine, because, well, you know, THEY do it better than I obviously did, and they told me several times that they go much more prepared than I obviously did! Yowzers!
Kathy, Karen, Ginger and all...
You don't know how much I wish I could be there in Chartres for this heavenly day that you have planned. I don't see how it's possible, so unless some magician waves a loving and magical wand, transforming my travel bank account into a multiplying fiend...
