Hi. We booked 2 nights at the Hotel Cezanne in Aix for May, 2010, as part of our 16 days tour of Provence. As it turned out, our reservation was never finalized and the hotels in Aix are mostly booked. Can anyone recommend a nice B&B close to Aix that we can try? We would also consider another town,as those are the only 2 nights we have without a reservation before we drive to Nice to fly home.

Thanks!!

We had a similar problem in Aix a few years ago. Our hotel in Aix didn't keep our reservations that we had made for 4 nights. You know, I think it was the Cezanne that didn't keep our reservations!

We fortunately called before leaving our B&B in Vaison-la-Romaine and extended there a few days. Our B&B host in V-l-R suggested stopping at chain hotels on the way to Aix to see if they had openings at their hotels in Aix.

We found the Novotel in Aix to be a good transition hotel before driving to the Marseille airport to fly home. We spent two nights there and had two rooms since our sons were with us.

You must, must, must try to get a room at B&B Maison de Carlotta! Aline is wonderful and her home is exquisite!!!! AND right off the Cours Mirabeau.....truly an experience you will not soon forget....

Al, I'm so sorry about the mix-up with the Cezanne.

Have you tried sites like www.booking.com and www.venere.com? They make it a little easier to look at hotels that have vacancies in an area you're interested in.

That said, I second Donna Marie's enthusiasm about La Maison de Carlotta. This is a two-room B&B, in a beautiful part of Aix, just a block off the Cours Mirabeau. Several of us have written reviews here.

Outside of Aix (maybe 15 minutes), I think Vauvenargues is just beautiful... on the north side of Mont St. Victoire. But I don't know what is available there for accommodations.

Al,

FYI - for the heck of it, I just checked venere.com, and they still show vacancies at the Hotel Cezanne for the dates you indicated. You might find you'd prefer one of the other suggestions, though. I think I would.

Incidentally, I use venere.com regularly.

Thanks for your replies. We got reservations at the Hotel Benvegundo in Les Baux de Provence, and we can visit Aix for a day trip.
