A passenger on a French train had to be rescued by firemen after having his arm sucked down the on-board toilet (he had dropped his cell phone into the bowl). They took him off the train with the toilet still attached to his arm!

I cannot even imagine this. Think of the pain - then think of the embarassment of getting someone to call for the rescue (were his pants up by then, or zipped?). Followed by exiting the train and station in "handcuffs" as it were. Oh, wow.

I can't imagine anyone following their cell phone into a toilet in the first place.

I've been trying to tell you people April Fool : a vespasienne is so much safer, even if it means going all the way to bld Arago next to the Santé prison.
You can even frapper two oiseaux with one pierre: pee in a vespasienne and check out the méridien marking, all on bld Arago (but try not to pee on the méridien).

Happy Happy Americana - you crack me up! Thanks for posting about the vespasienne - they were ubiquitous when we lived in Paris back in the dark ages! (1965-66). Brought back memories. Good to know one still exists for historical purposes.
