Kevin shares his impressions and highlights of his and Elisabeth's trip to Corsica in February 2009, enjoy: La Corse - L'Ile de Beauté
Kevin thanks for the report. Elisabeth's cousin is renting the villa now? Would you say it's suitable for just a couple? It says one bedroom but indicates a single bed and sofa bed too - so wondering about kids. Never considered Corsica for a vacation but your report has me intrigued.
Editing my bad - I had the wrong link on the TR to the villa - it's a four bedroom which means we can bring friends!

Thanks for fixing the link - yes, it is a four bedroom place (well 3 bedrooms and a mezzanine) with two bath rooms.
I know they have rented the villa out to everything from just one couple to 4 couples and also two families with kids.
The setup is ideal in the sense that there is a bath room on the ground floor and one on the first floor. The ground floor has a huge bedroom with a great view through big glass doors which go out to the terrace. And the downstairs bath room has an awesome view as well.
We slept in one of the upstairs bedrooms which was lovely - a queen-size bed with plenty of space. The other bedroom upstairs has two twins and then there is a mezzanine which has a big bed. Really spacious all around...
Great report Kevin. There is so much to explore on Corsica and it is perfect for Slow Travel.
I also loved Piana and the area around the town. I wished that we had spent more time exploring the area. And you were right on with the food. I loved the cheese. Yummm...
I finally got to reading your report, Kevin, and I have officially added Corsica to my radar screen. My SIL went there years ago and also raved about it. How "cold" would you say it was in the off-off season?
Yep, that little wisp of a lady really put me in my place... plus when said with a Corsican accent (which is far and away the softest, sweetest accent in France, IMO) it truly made an impression !
Well, weather-wise off-season all I can tell you is that we had more than a few days where t-shirts were all you needed (this was mid-February). But that was down along the coast. The fact that the change in elevation is so drastic in Corsica means that during the winter the change in temps and weather can be equally drastic. The nearby ski stations were open and doing a nice week-end business while we were sunbathing on the beach...
Kevin, you've inspired me to put Corsica on our list. I'm always looking for places that can be greatly enjoyed out of season. I love the combination of mountains and sea. It looks wonderful, and this will be a great resource if Corsica ever winds up at the top of our list.
