That lends itself to a pronunciation similar to the Italian: I'll guess Ah-YAH-choo.

Thank you Kevin and Andrew..... Ah-jack-c-o.....works for me! We leave 2 weeks from tomorrow and can't wait. The more I read about Corsica, the more I think we won't even scratch the surface with the 2 weeks we'll be there! It sounds like an incredibly diverse place with many, many things to see and do. Linda.

Linda, Please be sure to post a report/blog when you get back. We are VERY interested in going to Corsica in the next year or so. We loved the Cote d'Azur and didn't have time to go to Corsica this year. However, my husband retires on Monday, so we'll have the time in the future. Enjoy your trip! Cameron

Yes, I will definitely report back on this trip. The more I read, the more excited I get. The uniqueness and diversity of Corsica seems incredible for such a small place. I have just started reading the new version of Dorothy Carrington's book, "The Granite Island". It was first published back in the 70's sometime under the title "The Granite Isle". She is a great writer and her experiences, historically information and incite are fantastic. This is a definite read if you are considering going. Surprisingly, or perhaps not, it doesn't sound like a lot has changed there for many years, which I think makes it even more interesting. Linda.
