Hi Peter, Thanks for the info about the "Quai Voltaire". Can you let us know about the noise factor ? The hotel has been discussed several times on the board because it is such a "Grande Dame" in a wonderful location but we are curious to know about the noise of the traffic whizzing along the quai at nightime. Hi WillTravel or anyone else. Your review of the Mercure was interesting as I just had some old friends from Texas write as they plan on going to paris next year for the first time. They would rather be in an apartment than an hotel but are observant Sephardic Jews and so when I saw that this hotel is near apppropriate restaurants, etc. it sounded like the right neighborhood. I don't know anything about what they need but do know that they will have youngish children with them and thus prefer a place with more space than the standard hotel room.
is there an agency or group in paris they could contact for apartment rentals that caters to people who follow dietary restrictions. This is not anything I am familiar with so haven't been able to help them.

Holger, I'm not sure where to start in respect to getting an apartment with kosher kitchen facilities.
As a side note, we stayed in this neighborhood again in March 2008, at the Marciano Hotel. At this hotel, the room was a bit nicer and bigger, but the bathroom was a bit dated (although perfectly functional). I'll try to do a review for that soon.

Holger, may I suggest that you open a separate discussion on this matter? Here, under Hotel Reviews, it gets lost.
And I would ask your friends for a clear definition of their requirements.
Thanks. My friends do not need a Kosher kitchen as they can do something on their own. But they need a kitchen to do some of their own cooking and food shopping for kosher food. With two kids, they don't want to eat out every day. So it is more a question of findingan apartment in that area where the Moroccan restaurants and food stores our. Everything is compounded as they are not only kosher but also vegetarians.

Is there a way to cut and paste? the reason I had it here was because of the hotel review which mentioned the nearby restaurants. I also am not sure of the location of these so figured someone might know the neighborhood. Once I have that information, I could actually surf for apartments.

Holger, if I'm understanding your question correctly, you should just be able to highlight the text in the above post you want, right click, hit copy and start a new post and paste the information. If I misunderstoon, just let me know.
