The NY Times Frugal Traveler has been traveling around Europe. He currently has just left the French Riviera headed for Rome.

But having spent 5 weeks on the Riviera last year, I loved reading about his time in the area. He visits Monaco which I know is not to everyone's taste, but he stays in Beausoleil up above Monaco which looks much more interesting. There is also a great video on Menton which is a city I stayed in and love. Now I know why no one understand what city I was visiting. I pronounced it incorrectly. It is not MENton but more like Manton.

Menton is my dream city! I have not been there, but it is entirely possible I will finally get there in 2009 or early 2010. It resonates with me in a way few places do - well, photographs of it resonate with me.

That's where I will be for xmas-new year. It is a corner of the Riviera which I love. Curiously it is somewhat overlooked by the French themselves.
Beausoleil is a lovely village, so near the coast and yet so quiet. Being born in a city with a Monaco-like skyline, I could do without the view from Beausoleil.
