Although I understand that the museum has now reopened (according to a Fodorite), I can find nothing on the hours that the museum is open and/or the day(s) it is closed. I've gone to the website for the museum, which is dated and states that the museum is closed for renovation.
Anyone have any information regarding this? I can and, if necessary, will call when we're in our apartment in St. Jean Cap Ferrat the first week of June, but I do love to plan our time ahead of time.
The posting on Fodor must have been referring to another Picasso museum. I just looked on the museum's web site, and it said that reopening is expected in summer 2008.
I would have been surprised to find that it is open now, as I was in Antibes in late December and it sure looked like there was a whole lot more work to be done.
I got this info from a fairly active and presumably knowledgeable participant on the Fodors Europe message board. But when I posted the question back about opening hours/days, didn't get a nibble. Guess I can call them and find out for sure.
By the way, the museum web site simply says that it is opening "first semester of 2008." Not too sure what that means though.
I'm not sure which site you are looking at, Sam, but this one says "Réoverture prévue : été 2008" -- which if I am translating correctly means "Reopening expected : summer 2008".
I googled around yesterday to see if I could find any other updates and I had no luck. I also checked the Nice Matin newspaper and didn't find any announcements of "Réouverture".
My guess is it is not open yet and the official date has still not been set. It may even be 'sliding' as we say in software from 'first semester' to summer. Your best bet will be to call.
The Antibes Picasso Museum is still closed for renovations.
We were in the vicinity a couple of weekends ago: the word du jour then was that it would open in July. Antibes Tourist Info Web site is more cautious and talks about a "Summer 2008" re-opening.
