Has anyone ever rented an apartment near this area? I found this website www.rentalapartmentparis.com and the apartment looks beautiful and very reasonably priced. We are probably going back to Paris for a week next spring (with a week in Amsterdam) and were wondering if we should venture out of the typical tourist arrondissements like the 4th, which we've stayed in our first 2 visits.

The neighbourhood looks very nice, but is it too out of the way to everything else? We loved walking everywhere from the Marais and Ile St Louis our first 2 visits; would having to take the metro to the more central parts of Paris take away the feeling of wonderment? Or would living in a more Parisian neighbourhood enhance our love of Paris and give us a better appreciation of the city and those who live here?

I realize these are very subjective questions, but there's a lot of experience on this board and I love taking advantage of it!

Thanks
JO

I spent a morning in that neighborhood last week, just walking around and visiting. It's residential and really charming, very well supplied with all type of shops and restaurants, has a lovely park, and is just a few Metro or bus stops from the inner arrondissements. I've had my eye on that apartment for a long time, and I wouldn't hesitate to stay there!

If you book it, please be sure to submit a review!

Thanks Amy, I've gotten good feedback from TripAdvisor as well, so we are really thinking about this one!

Jo

BTW, loved your blog entries on Amersterdam and just catching up with the Paris ones. We will probably share a houseboat with friends next May for a week and then take the train to Paris for another week. Can't wait to explore a new city and return to the one we've fallen in love with!

I have never stayed in the apt. on Rue Truffaut, but a friend did and I visited him while he was there. It is very tastefully furnished, has a small balcony, a laptop computer and the neighborhood is very safe. There are bakeries, bistros, a neighborhood market, etc. close by and the lovely Batignolles park is a short walk. I would not hesitate to stay there.

Jo,
That's my apartment. I'm glad you seem to like it. You're welcome to call me at the number shown on the website if you have any questions. I'm generally up until around 11 (Eastern time) on weeknights.

Hi Truffaut,

Thanks for the offer, your apartment has had nothing but rave reviews since I posted this query here and on Trip Advisor. I had 3 PMs on TripAdvisor telling me how wonderful both the apartment and yourself are!

We have something of a unique situation for our trip next year and I will fill you in once I get the details worked out. We're not quite sure of our dates yet, but it should be around the 3rd week of May. It all depends on our first week in Amsterdam, which is at the mercy of a co-worker. But we are definitely interested in your beautiful apartment, I will get in touch once things are more definite.

It's so cool that you are on Slow Travel, I actually got your website through the link on Foodie Froggy in Paris!

If you go to the Fodor's travel forum, and search Batignolles, a number of people have stayed in that area.

Or for that matter, you can stay right here and search on Batignolles for quite a bit more conversation about that neighborhood. Big Grin

Thanks Chris, I just went through the posts, some great info there. I'm trying to talk hubby into committing to the apartment ~ we'll see how persuasive I can be! Big Grin
