Still trying to find a base for Brittany. The standing stones and prehistoric sites are a must for me. We are now thinking we should look for a base near Carnac.

Have been wondering about Vannes. Any suggestions on location and places to stay would be welcome.

Oh sorry Holger, I missed your Dinan post so you will have a car. If Carnac & etc are a priority you might consider staying in Quiberon. It's lovely and just a short run down the ... uhh, let me look ...D768.

Many nice places to stay with wonderful views.

Will look at Quiberon as well as Vannes. If anyone has suggestions for hotels or B & Bs I would welcome them.

There was a report about the town of Quiberon on the France 2 news at noon today. We learned that the wintertime population of 5,000 swells to 50,000 in the summer.
