We arrived in Lyon at 9:10 on Saturday morning. Our room at Hotel des Artistes was not ready until after 2:00 p.m. so we left our meager luggage with the front desk and did our sightseeing.
We purchased a Liberte card (transport pass) for the day for 4.40 euros/person. It was worth the money since we did our sightseeing this day: Cathedral St-Jean, Basilique de Notre Dame (by finicular), a couple of other churches, les Halles, Bernachon Chocolates on cours Franklin-Roosevelt, Vieux Lyon and Le Mercerie. We only saw one traboule on rue du Boeuf very late in the day. I read somewhere that the traboules are mostly open in the morning. We did not bother to go to any museums by choice.
Sunday in Lyon was rain, lightning, thunder almost all day. We read a lot in our room. We managed to get out twice and both times had to return to our hotel to get dry. Monday dawned warm and sunny but, alas, we had a train to catch for Paris.
The
hotel is nice, the staff cordial and our room was fine for the weekend. Unfortunately, the elevator was out of order and the repairman who came on Friday told them that it will be another week before it gets fix.
And our room was on the fifth floor;

yes, five flights of stairs. For our trouble, we were given an additional 20% discount on top of the weekend discount. We ended up paying 170 euros for our two night stay.
