In the past, we've vacationed in Normandy, Brittany, the Dordogne (twice), the western and eastern Pyrénées, and the Languedoc. When we were based in Uzès, we visited Avignon, St-Rémy, Les Baux, Arles, Aigues-Mortes and the surrounding areas.

I'm now planning a week in the Var (Callian) for next September and am wondering where we could spend the second week of our holiday. We always rent a gîte, which we prefer to a B&B.

Any suggestions?

Ardeche: listed beautiful villages Vogüé, Vinezac, Balazuc, Jaujac, Alba La Romaine, St Thomé, St Montan...
or the Lot or Aveyron (see many threads and info here).

Thank you for the suggestions, Americana.

Is there a village/or town in Ardèche that you favour in particular?

I especially like Vogüé, Jaujac and Largentière. Very beautiful, good eats in ferme-auberges. Lovely river for swimming and canoeing. Stunning Roman ruins and castles. What more can one want?

Sorriest the France forum has not been working well. A second ago I saw this thread but did not see my last reply written 2 hours ago.
So I wrote it again. Sorriest for the spamming.
Also, for several threads in the last 2 hours, the "France" click has disappeared, and one could only click "Slow travel talk". It seems to be back to normal.
Btw, Callian is beautiful. And nearby Seillans too.

AinP -

I never, ever would have guessed you of all people to be a spammeuse !

Just for reference: 1) No, I do not need a brand new Rolex and 2) My medications are fully paid for by this lovely country which we share - Vive le socialisme !

So please stop sending me all those nice email messages.

Merci,
Kevin

Très off topic:
I heard that in the US a man lured a telemarketer to an appointment then beat the crap out of him.
Am sooo considering either joining his (the beater, not the telemarketer, silly) defense committee, or joining the beating squad.

Re my spamming, it seems I had read Giny's double post in another forum and became totally confused and thought my first reply had not been registered at all and that the France forum for some reason was not a clickable option.
Confused
But this does not exclude your buying rolex or viagra from me of course.

Americana,

That was my mistake. I first posted in the wrong forum, tried in vain to delete it and reposted here.

After staying in the Var, I'd definitely recommend going to the Gorges du Verdon and its area. Beautiful, wild and different to all the other places you've visited so far.
