Bravo, J. I enjoyed your trip report very much. Paris and Venice are our two favorite travel destinations in Europe. In fact, we just returned a week ago from one month in Paris followed by two months in Venice.
So sorry for your loss but glad that you continue to travel.

I was very excited to realize as I read your report that you stayed in the exact apartment I have rented for my 5 day trip with my daughter in May. Sounds like it lived up to your expectations, which is always good to know.
You seem to have made the most of your trip and really enjoyed all Paris has to offer. Thank you for sharing it with us.
That was a very nice trip report. I liked it especially because I lived for three years, long ago, about two blocks north of the rue Marie Stuart. I live in France but don't get a chance to spend much time in Paris any more. Thanks for the virtual vacation.
J, I am so sorry for your loss of the wonderful B. Perhaps you remember me from our Venice GTG several winters ago, out on Nico's deck on the Zattere as I recall. I remember that you were one of the first experts on a portable GPS.
My husband Fred passed away in June of 2009, and I am going to Paris for a week in April! Great minds think alike, I guess.
Thank you for the very descriptive trip report.

Thanks everyone for the kind remarks. To Jo & Den, have a great time in the Sacaramouche--the only problem is telling whether to take an umbrella because the view from the window doesn't help much. So sorry to hear about cubbies, and yes we enjoyed our GTG on Nico's deck very much. I was just looking at the pix we took there.
J, you're a wonderful travel writer. I got all nostalgic reading about the Musee d'Orsay. When I used to work for a company with a European head office in Paris, Geoff would join me after a week of work there and we would have a short vacation in Paris. The d'Orsay was my favorite place. Many hugs, Janie
Enjoyed your report - especially like the idea of taking Elizabeth David with you. I'll choose some of her recipes for our trip to France in September & tote them along.
What a lovely trip report! I felt like I was right there strolling the streets and markets, even though I will be paying my first visit to Paris in May. Your culinary exploits were most inspiring. I'll be getting my hands on copies of French Provincial Cooking and the Judgement of Paris.

Thank you. Both these books really provide insight into French culture. I was not surprised that history affected art, but I was surprised at how art was such a political force, and therefore affected history. I felt I was seeing that continue with the museum worker's strike while I was there.
