I'm pretty sure I'll be having dinner up in Montmartre one evening while in Paris. I would appreciate any favorite, very local places anyone could point me towards. Thanks in advance.

My current fave bistro in Montmartre is le Café qui parle, on rue Caulaincourt.
Le Taroudant, nearere the Abbesses area, has good couscous.

I heartily 2nd Le Café Qui Parle on the corner of Caulaincourt and Tourlaque. A couple of blocks north of there is a good seafood restaurant called Le Winch on Rue Damremont.

We just stumbed upon this restaurant (and it really is just called "Le Restaurant" while wandering around Montmartre late one evening, and had the best meal here that we had during our entire stay in Paris. Le Restaurant is located on rue Veron at the corner of rue Audran, sort of in the middle of the hill. The very non-descript exterior and unfancy interior decor give little hint of the quality of the food and wine, which are outstanding. Simple French food, superb preparation, and very good value. I don't know if it qualifies as very local, but it certainly seemd that way to me, it just has that well-worn feel to it. Bonne chance! Tim
