We will be in Paris for 5 days in mid September. We then will spend a week in Burgundy. We plan to leave for Burgundy on Sunday am Sept 24. For a nyumber of reasons we have decided to rent a car in Paris and drive to Burgundy. We are still not sure, however, on the best place to arrange to pick up our car. We will be staying on the Place Des Vosges while in Paris and will return the car to CDG the morning we fly out.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Well, a convenient place for a rental car pickup would be the Gare de Lyon, simply because it's a short cab ride from the Place de Vosges, or just two Metro stops from the principal Marais Metro station, St. Paul, on the same line, the No. 1 line from La Defense to Chateau de Vincennes.

We stayed at rue du Bourg-Tibourg in Marais district. We walked to rue de rivoli to get a taxi - it was 2 years ago and I don't remember the cab fare. We picked up our car at Gare du nord because we were on our way to Brugge. It was easier to get out of Paris from that train station. We went to the train station the day before to make sure we knew the location of the rental desk. Somehow the car we rented in Paris was not too clean- made sure you ask for a nonsmoking car and mentioned it 1 more time when you are at the rental desk. We usually picked up our rental car in airports and they were always quite clean.

two ways depending on your luggage

1) little or no luggage to carry around go straight to CDG and rent the car there:then go to burgundy A1 dir paris;to A86 dir bobigny to connect to A6 dir auxerre/ dijon or A5 dir troyes then dijon.

2) lots of luggage then rent the car at Paris - Carrousel - Louvre, 99 rue de rivoli its hertz (my favorite) otherwise at gare du nord they are all avis national:hertz etc from rue de rivoli locaiton take bvld saint michel over the seine down continues to ave du general leclerc to connect to peripherique take it going east dir porte de gentilly there connect with A6 to burgundy

hope it helps and not confusing

We are renting a Hertz car Sunday from Porte Maillot-Rue St Ferdinand, Paris and driving to Burgundy (Creancey). We rented from this location maybe ten years ago and found it easy to get on the Peripherique. A funny travel story however was the car's gas tank indicator was broken and the representative attempted to tell us just to keep track of our kilo-mileage. We tried not to laugh out loud and took another rental car. Smile
