How about a visit to the Centre Pompidou? There is so much to see and do there in terms of multimedia, and there is a lot of street theatre in the area.

The architecture of the Centre is amazing, and so is the view from the top of the building, where you can go on the roof.

Eden,
Michael Osman replied to my e-mail immediately, and we are going to set up a couple of days for guided tours with him. One will be with the granddarling and one is just for me, after she heads home.
He's very prompt with his e-mails, he gave me a ton of information and some excellent ideas about what we can do, so I'm forever grateful to you, for sharing the information about him.

passaporta,
You are so right! I'm far from being a 17 year old and I'm totally enjoying everyone's generously-shared secret delights in Paris! This is why I love Slowtrav so much. Everyone here pitches in and helps each other with anything that we need for an upcoming trip.

Carol,
Thanks for your help! Is there a good restaurant or bistro at the Centre Pompideau, as well? I think we could stay a couple of months and still not even skim the surface of the delights of this city.

So far, I've printed this thread out and made a duotang binder for each of us, including all of my travel notes written in Word format and printed out, the directions for the apartment in Paris, directions for getting to beebee's in London, air tickets and train tickets...closer and closer! There's a swanky restaurant at the top of the Pompidou, which (IIRC) featured in an episode of Sex and the City. Probably quite expensive, I would imagine. The streets round about are pedestrianised and full of cafés and restaurants, so there should be something for almost all tastes and budgets.

I'm not crazy about the architecture of the Pompidou Center, but really liked the interior decor (and views!) of the restaurant Georges on the rooftop. I don't think there are any other cafes or restaurants up there, but Georges is worth the splurge. Note that you access the restaurant level from an elevator (that leads to escalators) on the outside of the center. Just tell the guards you want to go up to Georges.

Colleen,
Thanks so much! I've printed out the pages and added them to my travel binder.
