Kim gives us all the details on taking the Roissy Bus, also called the Opera Bus, from Charles de Gaulle (CDG) airport into Paris (9th arrondissement).

I wanted to thank Kim for posting these great notes on the Roissy Bus, and also to report back that we successfully took the bus from central Paris to CDG this past Sunday-- no problem! We took a cab from our hotel on the Left Bank to the Opera, got right on the bus, and were on our way five minutes after we boarded. It took us about 45 minutes to get to CDG (interesting route up through Monmartre), and our terminal (2A) was the first stop. We did pay the driver on board.

The only suggestion I would make is that it's important to know what terminal at CDG you need. (I looked this up on the internet before we left.)

Thanks again Kim. This was definitely a very easy and economical way to get to the airport.

Kathy - I'm glad they helped. I want to add a bit about the "knowing your terminal." How did you find out yours? Was it on your airline confirmation or did you CDG's website or some other method?

Kim, I looked on Continental's website and found this map, but I think it shows only the Sky Team partner airlines. I also found this list.

I always call the airline to find out the terminal number before I leave home, if it's not on my ticket.

I am glad you like it Kaydee. this is a great tool for travelers here, and unfortunately not well known as folks take the RER or expensier modes. The Roissybus has been going on for years and very little written about them.

Now that Kim did the report, maybe more travelers will begin to use this great service. And a great ride as you noted.

I agree Pedmar. I decided to use the
Roissey bus as a first-timer to Paris this
Spring, & then walked to (& from) my hotel.

Paid on board both ways; very efficient
use of my time & preferred seeing other
neighborhoods as an 'intro.'
