I know this is a Spain travel board and this is a Mexican movie but this move is a most see. It takes place in Spain after the civil war in the Basque country.

I don't know if "enjoyed" is exactly the right word for it, but I loved this film even though it gave me nightmares.

I have to agree with KT. I'm not certain 'enjoyed' is the right word. I was definitely moved by the movie and I thought it was very good. I can still see vivid images from several of the scenes in the movie. But I was disturbed by the violence and I ended up not watching a fair amount.

If you want to know more about the director, I highly recommend this NPR Fresh Air segment. It is a 45 minute interview of the director Guillermo del Toro. If you have an I-pod, download it as a podcast at I-Tunes.

That really was a fascinating interview with Guillermo del Toro! Until I listened to that, I hadn't intended to watch the movie because of what I'd read about the violence. I'm glad I did in spite of the parts that were very difficult to watch.

Agreed, the violence, especially because there were young children involved in the film, was very disturbing for me. I appreciated much of the film and especially the metaphor I chose to use as the context. I'm keen on looking at the dark side in order to find the "light" in the storytellling. It was well done, for sure.........ca

Sorry if I used the wrong term "enjoy". For me it was a very thought provoking movie about a childs way with dealing with the horrors of war. I don't want to say much more for those interested in viewing it.
