We are wanting to go to Granada and spend the night but want to rid ourselves of the rental car before Granada, perhaps in Marbella. What is the best way to travel from Esteponia to Granada-bus or train, where do we catch it and the length of the journey? Thank you for any help you can give us on this matter.

Bumping up for Sandy. I'm thinking the bus would be better, but I haven't been to Estepona. Anyone traveled in or out of there?

Definitely NOT the bus in my opinion - keep the car - easy drive from Estepona to Granada - motorway all the way - and then drop the car off at Granada airport (on the outskirts off the motorway as you approach Granada, or at the trains station in Granada and easy to find).

Bus journey would necessitate Estepona to Malaga and then a change of bus to Granada from Malaga. Train from Malaga to Granada takes longer that the bus. There is NO train from Estepona/Marbella to Malaga.

If you are only going to Granada for just a night and then returning back to Estepona, why on earth not keep the car? It will make your journey so much easier and getting into Granada is easy, and driving to the Alhambra palace is even easier as you do not even need to go into Granada and it is superbly signposted from all directions.

Enjoy the city - it is one of the wonders of the world!
