Wife and I both 70s would like to travel to Spain during either September or early October.Woulod prefer Small group or will travel individually. Madrid Servovia Toledo Granada Sevilla. Either staying overnight or... Allow enough time to see sights of each place. Any advice on how to setup this trip. Travel agents consultants welcome.
Would be delighted to help - sounds like you have done your homework. Suggest you base yourselves in Madrid to start with as Segovia and Toledo are easy day trips by train (Segovia is a longer journey but still very do-able in a day). Then the Ave high speed train down to Cordoba for a night and then on to Seville for two or three. Train across to Granada for a couple of nights before flying (cheap no-frills airline on that route) or train back up to Madrid for flight home. We have many clients of your age who have done, or will be doing a similar journey. Remember that September and October are high season (after the heat of the Summer) so you should be thinking about making Hotel reservations soon. Hope this helps - I am sure you will love Spain!!

Welcome to Slow Travel, John. Yours is a classic itinerary for Spain and to a great extent duplicated our trip in 2002. You can read our trip report by clicking here. We added Cordoba and took day trips to Segovia and Toledo from mMdrid.
May I also recommend that you read the Travel Notes posted by our members who travelled to Spain; they contain many useful suggestions and tips on what to see and things to do.
And if you like reading about other travellers' experiences, we have many Trip Reports which may turns out to be not only pleasant reading but also highly informative.
Finally, please feel free to ask any number of specific questions, preferably opening a separate topic for each question, and we will be more than happy to answer them the best we can.
i agree with amazinghotel. based in Madrid and go see segovia and toledo (its a north to south trip) trains and buses are easy driving to those cities.
The Ave train is a fast comfortable trip so its very doable, and do round up your trp in Madrid. Great combination!!!Enjoy your trip.
I have strong reservations about the day trip to Toledo. It would be much better than missing it but I spent three nights there and was so relieved I hadn't crammed it into two, as I'd first intended.
