Thanks again for all the help I received from this board choosing our apartment in Barcelona. We leave Sunday for Egypt and Jordan and then take up residence Feb 1 in BCN for two months. Will be blogging whilst there - here's a link
While I'm in BCN I plan to post lots of restaurant reviews as I know Shannon has been looking for those - also happy to try to answer specific questions.
All my obsessing about the apartment choice paid off - arrived yesterday in BCN and our apartment is breathtakingly beautiful - while the pictures on the website were good - they don't capture the beauty of the apartment.
Updates to start soon on the Blog - Egypt and Jordan portion of the trip.................best regards.
Sandy - didn't get there today - perhaps tomorrow. Looking at the pics though the apts seem very small (particularly the Salon) for the price - when are you looking to come to BCN?
We don't arrive until March 31st. We are only paying 80 Euros a night and Cristina is not charging us a cleaning fee. We are taking our 13 year old son with us so we are three people. I thought that was an affordable apt. so close to the Ramblas. What do you think?
Could you post the web listing for your apartment, so was we read your Blog, we can get a better idea of some of the things you mention. For instance, if you are extolling (or criticizing) the bathroom, washing machine, or stove, we can peek at it.
Thanks. Oh, and how about a few words about attempting to decide whether to speak bad Spanish or worse Catalan?
Sandy - walked around the area of that apartment today - seems great - more residential than where we are but still lots of shops and interesting looking restaurants.
In "your" area there are lots of little grocery stores (think 7-11 but with less junk food and very good wine prices I might add!) - walk to La Ramblas - less than 5 minutes - probably WAY less.
Re grocery stores - there's a Carrefour Express right on La Ramblas (a little above the Boqueria on the same side) and another one called "Dia" near the Boqueria and Santa Catarina market - also a big supermarket at El Corts Ingles at Placa Catalunya. I'll post all the addresses before you go.
One thing we've realized is the scale is much smaller than we thought - from our apartment we are less than a minute to La Ramblas - I thought it was further.....
Hi, Liz! Thanks for the nice posts! Lucky you in Barcelona! We're going to Barcelona the first week of April for 4 nights and I was wondering if you can tell me anything about the area where this apaprtment is located http://www.athome-barcelona.com/apartments-356
We like to be close to food markets and restaurants, but not necessarily too close to noisy tourist attractions.
