This might be a dumb question, but I do not usually book flights, so am not sure where to get the information that I am looking for.

I am trying to find the best way to get my 12 year old step-niece to our village in Spain and there do not appear to be direct flights from SFO to Madrid or Malaga ( or I can not find them). She is my daughter's best friend and they are really missing each other.

She was suppose to come with my mom this winter, but my step dad got cancer & although he is in remission, my mother can not come now understandably and regrettably. The girls are really let down.

I know the child's parents do not want her to have to switch planes, so I am looking for a plane that will go somewhere in Spain from SF where she could just stay on one plane the whole way. It would be a return trip ( after about a two week stay) so I would need the same thing going home.

A direct flight would be best ( and we would be willing to travel to pick her up), but if that is not possible then as short as possible then while staying on one plane.

Any ideas on how to do this or where I can get this info if not here? Thanks in advance!

I'm sorry to hear about your step-father.

I don't know of a good site that lists non-stops but after a bit of googling I think found the answer at an unusual site - The Weather Channel.! There isn't a non-stop from SF. I'm not surprised. Being on the west coast, I've found few non-stops to Europe and I'm always happy when there is new non-stop added from Seattle.

But there is a non-stop from LA. I know that is a bit of a trip/drive from SF, but maybe her parents might be able to make a trip out of taking her and picking her up.

Otherwise, for shortest connection research, I usually use Expedia. You can sort on shortest flight.

Good luck,

Thanks Marta, that is a big help!

I read somewhere that the LAX to Madrid does a short stop in Miami, but it sounds like it is the same plane. I will look into it further, but it sounds like our best shot.

Who would have thought the weather channel, eh? Wink
