We are coming in from Morocco and need a hotel for a one night stay. Our plane the next day does not leave until 11 AM. We are willing to go into the city if there are not hotels that are acceptable. The Hilton seems to be booked. Any ideas? How much is he taxi into Madrid?

A taxi into Madrid is usually 20 to 30 euros, depending on where you go, traffic and how many bags you have.

Hi Barbara,

Hilton it is not but google: " Hostal Vicky Barajas " and see what you think,. I have not stayed here but if I ever have an early morning departure, my flight has a mechanical, etc. I will go there. the web site says they even have a free shuttle. It seems to be on the short side of charming but for the price and convenience...
and if you do stay there, please report back if only for my info.

You can try Tryp Alameda Airport Hotel. It is a first class hotel located in a residential area close to the International Airport Madrid Barajas.

This is more of a 'budget type' recommendation so may not be of any use.
I have not stayed here but it looks very promising and could be reached by using the Metro line that runs from the airport and within one stop (depending on which terminal) you get to nearby Barajas. (The airport is also called after this township) and there are a few hotels in the neighbourhood including this one:

Of course you can use a taxi also but you should be aware that leaving Barajas airport does entail some fixed 'extra' charge that is tariffed - basically for giving the poor taxi driver some extra Euros for hanging around in the queue. I think it is €5 or something.

Open Google Maps and you can also see the Metro station at Barajas and the nearby airport.
