I need them to translate in English 10 short sentences so that they sound as natural and English as possible.

I'm in if you think I could help...I grew up in an Italian-speaking home and like to say I speak Italian "poorly but enthusiastically."

You only need to understand very simple sentences like Paolo crede che Maria sia simpatica.

OK, I'll jump in. A straightforward translation would be: Paul thinks that Mary is nice. But check this out for a discussion of the nuances of "simpatico" sei simpatico

And to use "believe" for "credere", as the dictionary suggests, opens the possibility that Mary may really be not nice, that Paul's belief might be wrong.

I absolutely agree with you, Ann. There are so many subtleties in a language, which is why tranlations are often difficult.

To continue with your translation of the sentence. . ."Paul thinks that Mary is nice" is as good a tranlation as any. In the spoken language, however, "that" is frequently omitted.

And here I thought that sei simpatico, mi e' simpatico was a stronger expression, something like you're charming, I find him attractive, charming, delightful, etc.! And it only means a pallid "nice??" I was happier in my illusion!

Eh, I know that translation is hard! This is why Universities work to create always better dictionaries.
Thi is what we do. We have a project on lexical complexity.

How would you translate "credo di sì"?

I think so or I believe so, depending on the context.
