I am planning a trip to Italy in April where I am working on an organic farm as well as a restaurant for a total of 3 months. I returned from a 3 month trip in December so i have some knowledge of Italian but need to improve it quite a bit. I heard that in Siena as well as Florence there are schools/classes that i can drop into at any moment. They assess you and then put you in the right class for you. Does any one have info on what these schools are called? Any information as to which one out of the two cities might be better? I will only have 2 weeks to learn so i need to learn the most italian for that time period. Mille Grazie!

Saena Iulia is a fabulous school in Siena.

To make the most progress I would do private leassons but the classes are really fun and the groups at Saena Iulia are quite small.

Here's a link for the school's site:

Buona Fortuna.

Sounds like you have a wonderful adventure in ffront of you.

Thanks for this info! It looks good. I might have to consider the private lessons as the earliest I could arrive would be on a wednesday and I see that classes start on a Monday. But then again I have to be a bit on a budget...the last Italian trip cot me a bit much thinking that, "well i'm only in Italy once" why not splurge....oops! Roll Eyes

If you can stay also in a different Italian region, not only Tuscany, you could try with an homestays course. Usually these private teachers accept to makes lessons also during the week end and they are much more flexible than a typical school.I suggest you research on internet www.it-schools.com (italian lessons / homestay courses)
