The Oanda translation program gave me a literal translation that doesn't make much sense. I saw this saying on a wall in an Italian restaurant - can anyone give me the gist of its meaning?

(I understand all the words separately, but not the meaning of the expression)

I think the meaning is clearer if you read it like this:

I soldi non danno la felicita.....quando sono pochi

That is "Money doesn't bring happiness....if there is too little of it"
