This comment was left on my blog entry which was a small video clip of Casey speaking in italiano. My language skill does not yet function enough to read it. So--can someone translate what it says? I do know that it is something about not having said something correctly. Thanks. (BTW, if interested in the clip, click on the blog link in signature. It really is kind of cute--said proud nonna.)
Ok, I'll have a go and see if I get it right. I think it says:
Bravo Casey, but one doesn't say "A me mi piace". It's wrong (even if its a mistake commonly made by Italians). You say "a me piace" or "mi piace". Both operate to the same end (effectively it's a repetition).
I can't translate word for word the last sentence but I think I've got the correct sense.

Aha. So the last sentence means something more like: They both perform the function of indirect object (and it's a repetition). That "svolgono entrambi la funzione ..." seems confusing because I think perhaps it means literally "they both become the function" which we wouldn't say in english.
Thanks Paolo.

Thanks for the help. And--Colleen, we are booked right across the street from you (I think) for the Sagra. It'll be fun and we certainly will go to dinner together. No?
Beebee, thanks for the translation and I'm glad you enjoyed Casey's little performance. I am curious how whomeever it was who left the comment even found the blog. Checking out the weblink he left, he seems to be in Italy and not someone I would think would be a ST or Expat person. Strange how people find obscure little places on the web.
Colleen, let's check in with each other when we get there. We are arriving on Friday but probably late as we can't leave Greve until Casey is out of school--at 4:30. It will be fun!
