What is the word for "chaperone" in Italian? Actually, I want the verb, "to chaperone".

i asked a couple of italians on this one:

fare il capogruppo: to be a chaperone for a group of kids or something.

fare il supervisore: this is more like a supervisor... as in work related stuff.

according to my italian-english dictionary, chaperone is used in italian as well... but according to my boyfriend, he's never heard it before. they must not do a lot of chaperoning in italy because neither the boyfriend or a friend of mine even knew what the heck they say for it.

Yes, the word chaperone is used in Italian too (frenchish pronunciation, I have no idea of how you pronunce it in the US) but I think I only heard it in US tv series translated in Italian....

In this little corner of Italy (north-west), "chaperon" does exist, but it has a more restricted meaning:
generally an older person accompanying two younger people, m. and f. His/her main duty is to avoid that the two could have a chance to become three, so-to-speak.

I would say simply "accompagnerò", futuro 1st person for accompagnare, lit. to accompany.

Your role will be clear enough, especially if you'll state your profession, let's say Insegnante, teacher, professor. In Italy too, we are used to have Saints among Teachers, leading around
crews of students .

In this role they are usally referred to as Insegnante/i accompagnatrice/i [accompagnatore/i if male] [singular/plural}.

As a "chaperon" of many student trips, I am only too familiar with that particular meaning of the word!
