I made the decision to attend Koiné in Lucca this summer based on some of the reviews I've read here. I paid my deposit on their Web site last Thursday and have yet to receive an acknowledgement. Since I'm making my own arrangements for accomodations (also based on a Slow Travel review) I'm a little anxious to receive a confirmation.
For those who have attended Koiné, I wondered how long it took for you to get your confirmation and also what type of response you received to emails.
If you send an e-mail to Linda at Koinè, you will (almost) surely get a response. It's possible they were closed the week before Easter, or also possible that they don't send confirmations (can't remember).

They do send confirmations. We got ours within a reasonable amount of time after I made the deposit and the final booking. I would go with the Easter break thing because they seem very well coordinated to me.
I wrote once to ask about the extra activities and didn't receive a response. I wrote back and it turns out that Linda was off. I don't know about Lucca, but the extra activities in Firenze weren't finalized until we got there and they told us on the first day what was available.
I will be going to Koine Lucca this summer also! What are your dates? I'm going the weeks of August 7 and August 14. I know, it's probably not the best time but it was the only time I could make it work and I didn't want to postpone it another year.
I am an advanced beginner hoping to register at the koine in Lucca. I have heard/read mixed reviews of this centre. But love Lucca and have accommodation on offer there. Can anyone let me have any views they have on their experience there - good or bad - after all you can't please all the people all the time!! Grazie mille in anticipio!!
Responses and confirmations from Koine' in Lucca have improved A LOT since the school hired Angelo almost two years ago. So far as I know, he is only involved in administration, not teaching. But I think it's a Monday to Friday job; I've noticed that the weekends are definitely not school days, and the door is rarely open. Given the time lags from the Western Hemisphere and the backlog of e-mails, your question of Friday in the U.S. may be answered Tuesday, or even Wednesday. Calling during class hours (9-1) can clear up most questions, or you can wait and trust. The teaching there is good; organizationally, well...the teaching there is good

I just returned a few days ago from my three weeks in Lucca. My experience was mostly postive at Koine. I plan to write a full review later this weekend.
Originally, I signed-up for three weeks of group lessons, but I switched my third week to private lessons, and I wish I had done private the whole three weeks. I had 10 hours and spent 75% of that time talking. It helped a lot. If you can afford the additional cost, I highly recommend it.
