Hi all!
I'm looking for some books in Italian for my toddler son. Amazon.com has a pretty pitiful selection. Is there somewhere I can buy books in Italian? Or will I need to go to an Italian website (and pay euros-yikes!)

Thanks,
Elizabeth

You could try Amazon.co.uk, and pay pounds (1 pound = 1.5 euro, you can faint now). Still, I don't think they have an exceptional assortment. Italian is a small language spoken by very few people around the world.

Thanks Alice - they actually did have a much better selection at the UK Amazon. Unfortunately shipping would have been 20 pounds!

No idea what's in CA but do you have a Dante school? Maybe linked to the consulate? You could try asking them.

Denver isn't very close is it. But they might have access to something.

Here and here you'll find a small selection of children's books and priced in US dollars.

Filastroche is a wonderful, colorful site that I always recommend to parents whose kids are learning Italian.

The Benny books, by Nicoletta Costa, publishd by Mondadori in association with Benetton are lovely for toddlers, and quite widely available. There are also Italian language translations of several English language board books, such as Lucy Cousins' Where's Maisy?

If you don't want to spend a fortune try doing a search on eBay, where you register for notification when certain keywords come up, such as "Italian" "children's" and "book". Then when people put items up for sale with those keywords, you get an email informing you.

I have found some fairly obscure books this way.
