I'm trying to improve my comprehension. I thought it would be useful if I could find an Italian language film with English subtitles that had relatively easy, or relatively slow, dialog. Anyone have nay recommendations?

Edited spelling in title.

Subtitles often don't match the words. The meaning will be close but not the same. Just something to think about.

I'm not scared (Io non ho paura) is a good candidate. Much of the dialogue is between the children: limited vocabulary and relatively simple syntax. Although it's set in the South, I don't remember accents/dialect being an issue.

For me Il Postino was easy to follow.

The problem with "Il postino" is that il postino speaks in a kind of neapolitan accent/dialect and the chilean poet speaks a strange kind of imperfect italian which I assume is to make it clear he is a foreigner. You need to be aware of this.

You may want to take a look at the following link from a thread from 2006 to find a list of recommended films:

What's your favorite Italian movie, especially if you are just learning to speak Italian?

Although I enjoy watching movies starring Massimo Troisi and Roberto Benigni, I wouldn't recommend them to a beginner student. I don't find their diction particularly clear.
