I'm sending some photographs to my relatives in Palermo with a short letter and I'm struggling with the following sentence:

E' stato un bellissimo soggiorno da ricordare per vita.

My problem is with ricordare per vita which I intend to mean remember for life. I know I'm doing a literal translation but I've looked in the dictionaries and searched on google.it and can't seem to find the phrase. Is it correct? Is there a better way to say it?

È stato un bellissimo soggiorno che ricorderò per tutta la vita.
The expression "per la vita" meaning all life long also exists, but it sounds less natural and a bit old...
