I've been invited to "toast and roast" a good friend on her birthday. Does anyone have a toast in Italian that they could share? She's my Italian class buddy and also travels to Italy once a year just to cook, and has a great sense of humor.

Grazie,
Nancy

Wekll, the only toast that I have ever heard in Italy is "salute" or "alla salute". As an alternative "cin cin", which imitates the sound of the glasses clinking one against the other.

Here's a Spanish toast I like - maybe someone could translate it into Italian: Love, Health, Money, and the Time to enjoy them!

In Spanish I think it goes something like Amor, salud, denari y el tiempo para gustarle, but I wouldn't guarantee the details.

Amor, salud, dinero y tiempo para gastarlos!
But I'm afraid that it sounds weird if translated into Italian...

Since Dorothy contributed a Spanish toast, I allow myself to contribute an hilarious French toast:
"May your wine always be older than your woman."
Is that a phallocrat toast of what.

Another one is "Cent Anni" - basically, may you live 100 years.

How about:
panni per un giorno

vino per un anno

ma, amici per una vita

Did I get that right? I'm sure should be cleaned up. Jim

Mille grazie, Mary and Jim. This toast is looking more and more like a short speech, so I'll use all suggestions. Finally, this is getting to be fun!
