An useful feature in firefox for windows [I don't know if it works on other O.S.]
You can set shortcuts to access dictionary entries online.
After the following steps, you will be able to access the definition by typing in the location bar [maybe you call it address bar?] of firefox a short keyword followed by the desired entry.
For example
you want a shortcut to Paravia italian - english dictionary entries.
1st step.
load
http://www.oxfordparavia.itin the upper right corner you'll see a input field labelled: "parola da cercare" [word to be searched]
2nd step
put the mouse cursor over it
mouse right click
a menu will show
3rd
click on
"Add a keyword for this search"
a small pop up window will show with three fields to be filled:
4th
fill the following fields
name : [whatever you want, for instance italian dictionary, or even vercingetorix or bubu or...]
keyword: this is important, and the shorter the better, I'd say. for example
ie
[as in i talian e nglish]; you must remember it.
create in: whereever you want, the default opzion "bookmark" is good enough since ,once set, you won't be looking for it anymore; see below.
ok to confirm your choices
5th
try if the whole thing is working:
in the location /address bar [where normally is the usual http:// etc ]
type :
ie [according to my example, or whatever keyword you chose] followed by a space and the desired entry.
For instance:
ie terra
[enter]
done!, you should know what terra means in English, now.
this website can understand if you are typing an English or an Italian word, so it works both ways.
Another useful dictionary only in italian
http://www.demauroparavia.it/Do the same as above , just choose another keyword (and name)
for example
id
[as i talian d ictionary]
Comodo, no?
