I have a question about the Photo website and how the number of views are counted for each photo in an album. This isn't a burning issue... just something I've wondered about.

For example, yesterday I finished posting a photo essay on the Luberon area of Provence. I think that each time I went to the "page" with an individual photo and edited my caption or whatever, that "counted" as a view.

But now-- in just a day-- the first photo in my album has 190 views and the last photo has 214! The numbers vary quite a bit. If someone looks at the page of thumbnails, does that "count" the same as if they open to a a full page of a photo?? The last couple of photos are still on the home page for the Slow Travel Photos as "recently posted photos," so do they get "viewed" every time someone looks at that home page?

Just wondering how this all works!

I don't know but I'll see if I can find out. I have noticed that the counts seemed strange when I uploaded a picture. I think it had 3 views just uploading it which seemed pretty weird.

I asked on the support board for our photo software and here is the answer "When someone views a photo that counts as a view. If you refresh your page that would be another view." Confused I explained the inconsistent counting but their developer doesn't see it. And when you can't show something happening all the time, it is really hard to explain.

If I get some time, I'll look at their code to see where the routine that counts gets called. I'm sorry I couldn't get anything more specific.

You're welcome. I just hate not figuring out a computer problem. Big Grin I may just look at it sometime so I can satisfy my curiosity and know more about how the photo software works. But I won't spend too much time on it.

Blushing Oops, I started to comment on your amazing image Marta and saw it was a test. Maybe that will help maybe not, but I must say that is a phenomenol image at the 'watering hole'.

Thank you Wendy. I haven't uploaded our Africa pictures to Slow Photos yet. I've been using them to test because I have them handy.

I have been practicing creating a personal website. The waterhole is actually one of 4 photos. I was able to 'stitch' two sets together. Here is a link to one of the stitches.
