I absolutely cannot upload a photo of myself to my personal profile (so that you can recognize me in Savannah). May I e-mail it to one of our moderators for posting? I would be so grateful!

Dear Marta, You're very speedy! Thank you so much for helping me out. FYI: Thanks to Palma who hosted the GTG where this photos was taken. It's no wonder we look so happy, well dined and in such great company! Sign me "grateful

Marta,

I tried to upload my blog photo to my personal profile page, and it worked, but didn't because the photo sizing is all messed up. What can I do to fix this?

Shamelessly tagging onto this thread in the hopes you will see it, otherwise I will PM you later.

Thanks,

Marcia

Marcia, I tried to copy it and resize it but not all of the photo was uploaded. Can you email me the photo or attach it to a PM? My email is up in the second post on this thread.

Or you can try it again. I recommend using 300-400 pixels wide. If you have software for editing photos, you can usually resize by pixels.

Either way is fine.

It is updated now. Cool photo. Where was it taken? I think I see Dave in the back.

I think the copy of Chow Venice and the spritz al aperol in Marcia's hand might be a give-away Wink

And yes, that's Dave as photographer reflected in the window (?mirror) I suspect!

Marta, thank you so much.

Yes, Jonathan wins the prize. Having had so much fun having a spritz or two with you the previous evening last July, we decided to find some places that are in the book. And David was going to crop the picture to use on my blog when we realized that was indeed he reflected in the window of the bar.

I have changed my photo multiple times over the years; however, I wanted to do it again tonight and ran into a problem. Here if you scroll down, it says that you can upload your photo and that directions will be at the bottom of the page--but, there are no directions. I do not want to use a URL but directly from my computer. On the profile page it indicates a pixel of 0 X 0 but I don't have a clue how to do that. It would be good to post instructions so that the mods don't need to always do it for people. Thanks

Jane, Here are some instructions. Give these a try. We'll get the instructions updated on the help pages. Beware - there are a couple of places where it can be confusing.

First make certain your picture is sized correctly. It should be between 200-400 pixels wide.

1. Go > Personal Zone > Profile. Click "Edit Complete Profile" in upper left corner.
2. Scroll down to Avatar/Picture URL
3. Click Edit. If you currently have a picture, you will have to scroll to right and find Edit located below your picture.
4. Click "Upload custom avatar". Don't worry about it saying 0x0 dimensions.
5. Browse to your picture on your PC.
6. Click update avatar. (note it may not look as if it updated - if not, refresh your page by pressing F5).
7. Close
8. If it does not look as if it updated - refresh your profile page.
9. Scroll to the bottom of your profile page and click Submit.

Marta, I hate this! For who knows what reason, I can't get this done. Having done this innumerable times in the past, I am not sure where my incompetency is this time. Has the process changed? I swear I am doing things the way you have outlined (I was even doing that before posting the question), and the gorilla keeps coming back up. Since people are becoming confused between me and it, Roll Eyes I need to do something.

Hi Jane,

When I checked out your profile I do not see your gorrilla friend anymore. There is a picture of you (alone) more up-close. Looks good.

Eden, thanks for telling me that. For some bizarre reason the gorilla (and me) keep popping up on my computer. I have refreased several times to no avail. At least I know that I wasn't totally incompetent--its my computer--what a surprise.

Update: This seems to be another Firefox/ST issue. When I pull up things on IE, the new photo is there but Firefox still has the old one. Very strange.

I can see the new photo also. It might be the old photo is in the cache of Firefox and it keeps bringing it up. Try clearing the firefox cache.

Marta, emptied the cache and it's good. I guess I did it right all along and it was the FF cache that was the problem. Thanks for the help.

Thanks Jane. I know I had a similar issue when I was updating Marcia's photo. I thought I wasn't doing it right and emailed Kim. Turned out, I had updated it but it just hadn't refreshed yet.

We'll update the Slow Travel help pages with the instructions.
