To upload photos into your photo gallery, what size is best to preserve the quality of the picture? What resolution and image dimensions? My digital camera generally is set of large size and resolution, but I can reduce size of course if needed. I plan to also scan some pictures and will adjust them as needed.

To enter a photo essay in the current contest, do I make an album? I have registered and uploaded two single pictures, as an experiment.

Thanks for answering my questions - I've got some time on my hands this week, and I'm new to this. I am enjoying your site.

This is Linda again with an additional question - my attempt to be more clear.

What is the difference between a photo essay, as defined in your contest, and a photo album as displayed in the gallery section?

Hi Steve and Linda! For the contest, it works best to create a Photo Album and upload your photos to it. Photo essay is just my term - I should probably say photo album! Remember to give each photo a good title and description.

I have done a few experiments with the PhotoPost software and how it compresses. I use Adobe Photoshop and change the resolution to 72ppi, then reduce the size to 600 pixel width. Then I upload. But you can also upload larger photos and PhotoPost will compress and resize them. However, I am pretty sure you should first set the resolution to 72 ppi - to get the best quality. Also, if you have good photo software and resize it yourself, the upload goes faster (smaller file).

You can create an album and upload a few photos and then delete them to try it all out.

I think you posted this in the wrong thread, so I moved it here.

Looks like you can't change this yourself - but I can. I changed it to "Steve and Linda Jones" - let me know if you wanted something different.

I noticed that you put your photo description as a comment. It works best to put this in the description field. Click on the photo to get the large version, then click EDIT PHOTO in the list of links under the photo. There you can add the description or change the title.

Thanks for your help, Pauline. Yes, under my photos "Steve and Linda Jones" will be fine.
